Position Summary

This skilled position operates under the guidance of the Shop Supervisor or Service Manager, focusing on the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of heavy machinery and lift truck equipment according to manufacturer guidelines. The role demands strong analytical and decision-making skills, enabling the technician to handle intricate tasks such as oil changes, component removals, and diagnostics with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess excellent communication and customer service abilities, alongside basic computer proficiency.
  • Collaborate with dispatch, service operations, sales, and technical support to ensure outstanding service for both internal and external clients.
  • Execute the removal and installation of various components including guards, tracks, and engines.
  • Utilize cleaning methods such as petroleum-based solvents and bead blasting for parts maintenance.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and assess the condition of parts, ordering replacements as necessary.
  • Document service reports detailing parts, labor, and repair processes.
  • Assemble new machinery and attachments as required.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians when necessary.
  • Manage project tasks, including new equipment installations and service campaigns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work environment.
  • Independently conduct complex repairs at customer sites.
  • Test and operate equipment post-repair, making necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain Triple Master Technician certifications and pursue ongoing training on new equipment models.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and mechanical skills are essential.
  • A two-year vocational education certificate or equivalent experience (48-60 months) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills for managing emails, mobile service orders, and diagnostic software.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Reliable and trustworthy, representing Darr Equipment positively.
  • Skilled in using overhead hoists, cranes, and lift trucks for equipment handling.
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools for equipment assembly and repair.

Work Environment:

This role involves working in diverse and physically demanding conditions, requiring prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and repetitive motions. Technicians may encounter varying weather conditions, noise levels, and exposure to chemicals. Safety precautions and personal protective equipment are essential.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull heavier weights, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and strength. Technicians must be able to wear necessary safety gear and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
