Position Overview:
The Heavy Equipment Service Technician plays a crucial role in delivering on-site customer support and is tasked with the essential duties of troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing a variety of construction machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize safety by adhering to all relevant safety protocols and company standards.
  • Conduct minor repairs and troubleshooting with minimal oversight at off-site locations.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Disassemble and reassemble basic components, ensuring all parts are correctly installed.
  • Test and confirm the functionality of all repairs performed.
  • Complete job-related documentation, including service reports and parts orders, while maintaining accurate customer records.
  • Operate machinery and vehicles, ensuring all necessary licenses and certifications are held.
  • Maintain inspection records for service vehicles and comply with Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT regulations diligently.
  • Keep all company tools, equipment, and vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and customers regarding job status.
  • Meet productivity standards by completing assigned tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Be available for overtime as needed based on workload and customer demands.
  • Complete all required training and safety courses promptly.
  • Exhibit professionalism in all interactions with customers and colleagues, potentially mentoring junior technicians.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment, including their design, usage, and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, transmissions, engines, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in using current software and hardware related to machinery diagnostics.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Basic troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills to manage work activities efficiently.
  • Ability to operate cranes and forklifts, with the capacity to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to use hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment for mechanical repairs.
  • Good manual dexterity and coordination.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of experience with heavy equipment; three years preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certifications such as MSHA and air conditioning are advantageous.
  • Crane and rigger certifications are preferred.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel may be required, including potential overnight stays.
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Possession of necessary tools for performing repairs is required.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and move objects, utilizing core muscles effectively.
  • Frequent handling of materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Constant physical activity, requiring good stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Capability to climb ladders and work at heights safely.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver under equipment.
  • Must respond to visual and auditory signals, including alarms and instructions.
Work Environment:
  • Use of personal protective equipment is required.
  • Work is often performed outdoors, around moving machinery, with potential exposure to loud noise.
  • May encounter various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, and high-pressure equipment may occur.
  • Work may involve cramped spaces and elevated areas.
