Role Overview

The Restaurant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a dining establishment, ensuring that it meets high standards of cleanliness, staffing, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to make informed decisions that contribute to the overall success of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and Closing Procedures

  • Ensure that all staff understand the importance of proper closing procedures to prepare for the next day’s operations.

Staffing and Team Management

  • Foster an engaging work environment that promotes employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Allocate staff and resources effectively to enhance profitability.
  • Create work schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to staff to help them achieve their performance goals.
  • Conduct interviews and make decisions regarding hiring, promotions, and terminations.
  • Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within the team.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for all employees.
  • Analyze financial and operational reports to track progress towards business objectives.
  • Recognize and reward staff contributions to foster a motivated team.

Inventory and Equipment Management

  • Ensure that inventory levels are maintained and that orders are placed as needed.
  • Oversee the receipt of goods and manage vendor relationships.
  • Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and schedule maintenance as required.

Brand Knowledge and Training

  • Assess the skills of team members and provide necessary training.
  • Stay updated on brand standards and ensure compliance among staff.
  • Develop strategies to drive revenue growth.

Customer Experience and Safety

  • Manage daily operations to ensure a positive dining experience for guests.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.

Reporting Structure

  • This position typically reports to the Director of Operations.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet operational needs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in managing restaurant operations with a focus on financial performance.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of food service policies and operational standards.
