As a Veterinary Care Assistant in Emergency Services, your responsibilities will include:
  • Assessing and prioritizing patient needs
  • Proficiency in catheter insertion and blood sampling.
  • Monitoring and documenting vital signs, prioritizing treatment plans, and assigning tasks as necessary
  • Identifying changes in patient conditions and communicating with the veterinarian
  • Utilizing various imaging techniques (X-rays, ultrasound)
  • Administering and overseeing patients during anesthesia/sedation procedures - dental experience is highly valued
Compensation range: $19-$24
4/10 hour shifts, weekend availability is mandatory
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between the veterinarian and clients for non-urgent communications
  • Gather and summarize comprehensive histories of patients presenting through the emergency department in collaboration with Emergency Technicians
  • Develop and present treatment plans to clients
  • Facilitate communication between veterinarians and technicians regarding necessary treatments (blood draws, procedures, etc.)
  • Assist the veterinarian with patient-related tasks throughout the shift.
  • Manage consent documentation with clients.
  • Record interactions between clients and the attending veterinarian.
  • Handle various prescription requests, client follow-ups, lab work entries, etc.
About You:
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience. Anesthesia experience is essential.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Understanding and practical application of basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is necessary
  • Weekend availability is a must
