Position Overview:
The Credentialed Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in guiding and training the medical support team within our small animal practice, adhering to hospital policies and procedures while delivering medical care to patients as permitted by the veterinary practice act.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the medical staff to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
- Contribute to employee performance evaluations in collaboration with the hospital manager.
- Provide patient care under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
- Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case information in patient records.
- Review medical records and discharge instructions with clients.
- Address client inquiries regarding basic animal care and routine procedures, escalating medical questions to veterinarians as necessary.
- Answer phone calls in a courteous and informative manner.
- Offer constructive feedback to enhance the training program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in various skills, including laboratory work, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.
Ability to maintain composure and efficiency during medical emergencies is essential.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the veterinary field.
- Capability to endure prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking on hard surfaces.
- Ability to perform duties in a hospital environment, including managing noise levels from animals and equipment.
- Strong auditory skills to comprehend verbal instructions and client communications.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for operating equipment and using a keyboard.
Travel Expectations:
Minimal travel may be required for vendor visits and educational opportunities.
