We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Substation Physical Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our Power Delivery Services Team, you will be responsible for leading and designing high voltage utility substation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for utilities/substations, including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one line, three-line drawings, plan-section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings.
- Conduct engineering studies and calculations to ensure project feasibility and compliance with industry standards.
- Perform Quality Control reviews on substation physical design projects to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Assume the role of technical lead on projects with limited guidance, providing expertise and guidance to project teams.
- Develop and review bill of materials for substation physical projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and review proposals and scopes of work for smaller substation physical projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and expectations.
- Interact with clients, including site visits, to provide project updates and ensure client satisfaction.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with internal teams and clients to meet project objectives.
- Develop leadership skills in preparation for future roles on the team, including mentoring and training junior engineers.
- Four (4+) plus years of Substation physical design experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field.
- Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E) license.
- Master's degree in related field.
- Working knowledge of protection and control design.
- Experience with bus calculation.
- Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS.
