Job Title: Senior Programmer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Programmer to join our team at Disbelief, a game development studio focused on contracting and consulting services. As a Senior Programmer, you will be responsible for leading and developing projects, mentoring junior programmers, and communicating with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results
  • Mentor junior programmers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing any issues that arise
  • Debug code with precision, identifying and resolving complex issues
  • Estimate work and assess the impact of issues on project schedules
  • Diagnose and solve performance issues, ensuring optimal system performance
  • Document code, making it easy for others to understand and maintain
  • Study version histories and code documentation to solve present problems
  • Implement features in innovative ways, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends

Requirements

  • BA/BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • 5+ years of experience in writing software in C++
  • 5+ years of game development experience
  • 3+ years of Unreal experience
  • One shipped Unreal engine title
  • Extensive experience with version control with P4, git, or equivalent
  • Experience with multi-threaded systems

Hybrid. Programmers are in the office based on project needs, but can often work from home. Some of our projects require access to physical infrastructure daily.

Technologies

We primarily work with C++ of varying standards, with a sprinkling of other languages as needed for tooling. We do a lot of graphics programming work, using shader languages and platform graphics APIs. Being able to read x64 or ARM assembly is useful. We work with Unreal Engine, but also with custom game engines. Our work uses rendering, physics, audio, VR, AR, and other APIs frequently. Our primary platforms are PC, Xbox consoles, Playstation consoles, Switch, and VR/AR devices.
