We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Hydraulic Engineer to contribute to our efforts under the FEMA Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contract V (PATAC V) program. This position is crucial for offering specialized knowledge and direction in hydraulic engineering projects aimed at disaster recovery and mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert technical guidance in the planning, design, and execution of hydraulic engineering initiatives, focusing on floodplain management, stormwater systems, levee integrity, and dam safety.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of compromised hydraulic structures, assess damage levels, and devise engineering solutions for restoration or enhancement.
  • Utilize advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software to analyze flood risks, drainage challenges, and the efficacy of water control systems.
  • Collaborate with FEMA representatives, state and local authorities, and other stakeholders to formulate and implement recovery strategies that align with regulatory standards and project objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion within defined scopes and budgets. Prepare comprehensive project plans, timelines, and reports.
  • Guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FEMA guidelines and environmental assessments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical personnel, promoting professional growth and knowledge exchange within the organization.
  • Generate detailed engineering reports, project documentation, and technical presentations for FEMA and relevant stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to FEMA's standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in hydraulic engineering, particularly in disaster recovery and flood risk management. Experience with FEMA Public Assistance programs is highly desirable, or a Bachelor's degree with 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory. Certifications in floodplain management (CFM) or similar credentials are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and GIS applications. A solid understanding of FEMA guidelines and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is essential.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to develop innovative solutions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, manage competing priorities, and cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders.
