This position is crucial for offering technical insight and direction for hydraulic engineering projects that focus on disaster recovery and mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of damaged hydraulic infrastructures, assess the level of damage, and devise engineering solutions for repair, replacement, or mitigation.
  • Utilize advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software to analyze flood risks, drainage challenges, and the functionality of water control systems.
  • Collaborate with FEMA representatives, state and local agencies, and other stakeholders to formulate and implement recovery strategies that adhere to regulatory standards and project objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion within scope and budget constraints. Develop project plans, timelines, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FEMA guidelines and environmental assessments.

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in hydraulic engineering, particularly in disaster recovery and flood risk management. Experience with FEMA Public Assistance programs is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory. Additional certifications in floodplain management or related fields are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and GIS applications. Strong knowledge of FEMA guidelines and related regulatory frameworks is essential.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail and a capacity for innovative thinking in high-pressure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting, manage competing priorities, and cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Career Advancement: Opportunities for ongoing learning, professional development, and growth within the organization.
  • Collaborative Culture: Engage with a diverse and talented team of engineers, scientists, and disaster recovery experts.
