About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Dosimetrist to join our Radiation Oncology team at Dignity Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement treatment plans using computer and manual calculations to deliver precise radiation doses and field placement techniques.
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to ensure accurate treatment plans and dose calculations.
  • Coordinate treatment simulations and tumor localization using CT, MRI, and PET scans.
  • Supervise and assist in the planning and fabrication of compensation filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam-modifying devices.
  • Supervise and assist in the planning and production of moulds, casts, and other immobilization devices.
  • Supervise and assist in the implementation of treatment plans, including the use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, and other treatment variables.
  • Perform calculations for accurate dose delivery and document all pertinent information in patient records.
  • Verify the mathematical accuracy of calculations using established systems.
  • Provide physics and technical support to Medical Physicists in radiation protection, qualitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of radiation oncology equipment.
  • Assist in intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures and manual and/or computer calculations of dose distributions.
  • Teach applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students and residents as assigned.
  • Participate in clinical research for the development and implementation of new techniques.
  • Participate in continuing education in current treatment planning techniques and advances in medical dosimetry.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal training in medical dosimetry in a JRCERT-accredited program.
  • Eligibility to sit for medical dosimetry boards.
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) within 1 year.
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans and communicate these aspects to Radiation Oncologists and Radiation Therapists.
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety and current rules and regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
  • Mathematical skills including algebra, trigonometry, and introductory calculus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years or more experience as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD).
