At Tri-City, we excel in orthopedic, spine, and cardiovascular services, along with advanced robotic surgery, cancer treatment, and emergency care. Our Emergency Department is well-regarded for its rapid response to critical conditions such as heart attacks and strokes. We collaborate with over 90 local non-profit organizations to address pressing health and social issues through our COASTAL Commitment initiative.

Position Summary:

The Safety and Security Specialist is tasked with ensuring the protection and safety of the Medical Center, its employees, patients, medical staff, visitors, and their belongings from accidents, damage, theft, and unauthorized access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a secure and sanitary working environment, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Perform duties that safeguard the Medical Center by identifying potential risks, unsafe behaviors, and contraband, utilizing verbal or physical interventions as necessary.
  • Ensure a secure environment by monitoring identification badges, checking for unsecured access points, and identifying trip hazards while following safety procedures.
  • Assist in the management of assets within the medical center, including inventory and retrieval processes.
  • Support the orientation of new security personnel as required.
  • Adhere to the established schedule of the Security department, including mandatory overtime to maintain adequate staffing levels.
  • Maintain and care for departmental equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in departmental documentation standards and complete incident reports promptly.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in all situations.
  • Fulfill all unit-specific and educational requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience of two to four years in law enforcement or security, or relevant coursework in Security, Criminology, or Management.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.

Licenses:

  • BSIS Guard Card must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Certifications:

  • NVCI Training is required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

All candidates offered employment must successfully complete a physical evaluation, urine drug screening, and background checks prior to commencing work.
