Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pathology Specialist Senior to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize excellent customer service skills to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform testing and procedures outlined in the manual of standard operating procedures.
  • Notify ordering physicians of panic values and resolve problems in testing and quality control.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years of clinical or equivalent laboratory experience in molecular diagnostics and cytogenetics.
  • Current ASCP or equivalent certification or ASCP categorical certification required within 18 months of hire date.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science Degree in a Life Science from an accredited program or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters of Science Degree in Life Science from an accredited program.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent change.

Physical requirements include prolonged standing, sitting, and reaching, as well as exposure to biohazards and potentially infectious body fluids.
