Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Aid Advisor to join our team at Highline College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional service to students, staff, and external agencies, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consumer information regarding financial aid programs to students, staff, and external agencies.
  • Manage the financial aid program and processes, including Return of Title IV, Unusual Enrollment History, Verification reporting, and Consortium Agreements.
  • Perform full-service functions related to all aspects of the Financial Aid programs, including determining eligibility, awarding aid, and reconciling Federal, State, and Institutional accounts.
  • Determine and monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress status and update records accordingly.
  • Counsel students, verify applicant data, determine financial need, and award financial aid funds.
  • Provide advising about available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and the application process to students and parents.
  • Analyze and evaluate financial aid eligibility for students.
  • Provide relevant financial aid related support to students experiencing family, personal, or economic crises.
  • Monitor financial aid progress and documentation for students.
  • Participate in the development of institutional financial aid policies and procedures.
  • Exercise professional judgment to determine if adjustments should be made and make award adjustments as appropriate.
  • Review federal regulations and make recommendations on office policy and procedures.
  • Conduct financial aid workshops on and off campus and through Zoom.
  • Assist the Director in completing federal, state, and institutional surveys and reports.
  • Collaborate with multiple funding service providers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years of financial aid or student funding experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of federal and state Financial Aid funding experience.
  • Experience in returning federal and state financial aid funds.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, especially Spanish.
  • Extremely strong typing skills.
  • Experience with Washington state's ctcLink software program.
