Advocate Aurora Health is on the lookout for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the Interventional Radiology sector.

Role Summary

The Interventional Radiology Department is equipped with state-of-the-art angiography technology and comprises three (3) labs dedicated to neuroradiology, body, and vascular IR procedures. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in this department, you will oversee both inpatient and outpatient care for patients undergoing invasive procedures, guiding them from preoperative to postoperative stages within a collaborative team setting.

This department offers extensive training in Radiology Interventions (body) and Neuro Interventions (stroke), fostering a supportive team culture that emphasizes learning and teaching, backed by engaged leadership.

Utilizing evidence-based practices, clinical judgment, empathy, and effective communication, the Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safest patient environment and enhancing the overall patient experience. You will be responsible for delivering and coordinating patient-centered care throughout the healthcare continuum, facilitating a smooth transition for patients to other healthcare systems or their home environments.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current Illinois RN license.
  • BSN is preferred; ADN is acceptable with a commitment to enroll in a BSN completion program within four years for nurses with less than 12 months of experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience (ICU, PACU, ER) is required.
  • Current AHA CPR and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
  • Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to hazardous conditions while caring for patients.
  • Capability to assist in patient evacuation during emergencies.
  • Experience working with potentially infectious specimens and patients.
  • Ability to respond promptly to patient needs and navigate all areas of the unit.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; for heavier lifts, patient handling equipment should be utilized with assistance from team members.
