Position Overview:
This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan reimbursement.

To qualify, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria in line with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of their appointment.

Approval of the program, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility duration (ranging from one to five years) will be determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office following a thorough review of the EDRP application.


Key Responsibilities:
The Physical Therapist-Clinical Specialist (Pelvic Rehabilitation) will be tasked with various duties, including but not limited to:
  • Providing direct patient/client care with advanced expertise in contemporary Physical Therapy across diverse practice areas.
  • Designing and implementing clinically appropriate treatment programs tailored to client evaluations and needs.
  • Developing, coordinating, and executing specialized treatment programs within the assigned clinic.
  • Mentoring and supporting fellow physical therapy staff in managing complex medically impaired patients with pelvic issues.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in treating individuals with pelvic floor dysfunction, regardless of gender.
  • Interpreting diagnostic tests from various disciplines related to pelvic dysfunctions, including Urology, Gynecology, Neurology, and Colorectal Services.
  • Demonstrating advanced manual therapy skills, particularly for the lumbar, sciatic, hip, and pelvic regions.
  • Conducting assessments of muscles, ligaments, nerves, and bony landmarks within the pelvic area.
  • Documenting all evaluations, treatments, progress, education, counseling, and training in the client's medical records.
  • Assisting in the education of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant students during their clinical affiliations.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Telework options available with supervisor approval.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens. All candidates selected for VA employment in testing-designated positions will undergo urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory. A probationary period may be required, and candidates will undergo a background/security investigation.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Additionally, participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required for all Veterans Health Administration HCP.


Basic Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Education: Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria: (1) Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy with five years of progressively independent experience; (2) Master's degree in Physical Therapy with two years of progressively independent experience; or (3) Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Licensure: A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth is required.

Preferred Experience:
Board Certification in Women's Health Physical Therapy or three or more years of experience in providing pelvic rehabilitation physical therapy services.
Physical Requirements:
Exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
