The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional clinical and client-facing support within the worksite. This position is dedicated to ensuring that all patients receive outstanding musculoskeletal treatment. Under the guidance and supervision of a licensed physical therapist, the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant will provide physical therapy interventions aimed at achieving specific therapy objectives. Additionally, this role involves supporting clients in the workplace by offering education on body mechanics, ergonomics, safety protocols, wellness initiatives, and other essential non-clinical support. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals and ancillary staff is also a key responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates as part of a multidisciplinary care team, which may include physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists, health coaches, and medical assistants.
- Implements patient care plans by delivering therapeutic exercises, modalities, manual therapies, therapeutic activities, and patient education as directed by the physical therapist. Monitors patients during treatments to gather and assess data on their responses and progress, reporting findings to the physical therapist through direct communication or progress notes.
- Engages in effective communication and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.
- Accurately documents patient care services in a timely manner within the patient's electronic medical record.
- Safeguards patient confidentiality and protects operations by maintaining the confidentiality of information.
- Ensures a safe and clean working environment by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Follows infection control policies and protocols to protect patients and fellow staff members.
- Delivers the highest standard of customer service with compassion and respect for all patients.
- Complies with all applicable federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements and practice acts.
- Provides educational resources on worksite injury prevention, ergonomic practices, and safety coaching, along with conducting worksite assessments as necessary.
- Participates in all required training sessions related to the health center, including electronic medical record training.
- Identifies community health needs and develops strategies to address them.
- Effectively communicates with the interdisciplinary team during the planning and execution of the patient's care plan.
- Schedules follow-up appointments, screenings, and tests for employees of client companies.
- Assists in outreach initiatives to engage employees at the highest risk of developing chronic health conditions.
Graduation from an accredited two-year college program for Physical Therapist Assistants recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association, along with a minimum of three years of experience in the role. Proficient understanding of clinical documentation requirements utilizing electronic medical records software in accordance with state, federal, and APTA guidelines. Experience in outpatient settings for adolescent and adult populations is preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

- Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey educational materials to various levels within an organization.
- Experience or certification in ergonomic training is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels, demonstrating independence with appropriate supervision.
