Under general oversight, this role encompasses all facets of planning, coordination, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and integration of the Radiology Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Change Agents: Oversee the daily operation and upkeep of PACS/RIS equipment, ensuring efficient electronic image workflows, merging, dictionary management, and resolving exceptions. Develop and maintain a system error log, employing problem-solving skills to rectify and minimize issues. Ensure data integrity and oversee the accuracy of dictionaries within RIS. Plan, coordinate, and implement PACS upgrades (both equipment and software) - 20%.
- Change Management: Create a comprehensive change management program for all system modifications. Supervise vendor activities during the installation and rollout of new equipment. Assist in formulating a long-term strategy for the phased implementation of PACS/RIS - 15%.
- Physician and Client Liaison: Promote collaboration between various stakeholders regarding PACS/RIS initiatives. Standardize operational processes and develop training protocols for physicians and staff. Collaborate closely with the training department to facilitate PACS/RIS training sessions - 10%.
- Quality Assurance: Establish daily, weekly, and annual quality assurance metrics. Analyze trends and initiate process improvement strategies for electronic workflows - 10%.
- Operational Problem Solving: Investigate and prepare proposals to address operational challenges within the clinic. Maintain the integrity of PACS/RIS training and troubleshooting processes, reporting significant issues to management as necessary - 5%.
- Interdepartmental Liaison: Act as a bridge between Radiology and other departments regarding PACS/RIS operational matters. Collaborate with billing and business office managers to ensure accurate billing and revenue capture - 5%.
- Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing the budget for PACS/RIS needs, including ongoing projects, equipment requirements, and personnel. Participate in the procurement process for PACS/RIS - 5%.
- Communication: Effectively communicate updates and changes regarding PACS/RIS to all relevant users. Ensure clear communication of departmental policies and procedures - 5%.
- Network Security: Develop and enforce network security protocols that support user-defined workstation settings. Formulate a disaster recovery plan and ensure routine virus scanning and daily backups are conducted - 5%.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance during staff shortages and participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to maintain professional competence - 5%.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues, physicians, and patients.
- Maintain regular attendance and ensure confidentiality of patient information in compliance with regulations.
- Be prepared to work flexible hours to ensure the smooth operation of PACS/RIS systems and provide technical support as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- ARRT/RDMS/CNMT certification.
- Experience in Radiology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science.
- Demonstrated understanding of Radiology principles and imaging techniques relevant to departmental operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Radiology clinical workflows.
- Proficiency in all PACS applications.
- Familiarity with Crystal Reports and system configurations.
- Understanding of HL7, Connect R, and basic integration technologies including DICOM and IHE protocols.
- Adept at collecting, analyzing, and distributing statistical reports to inform decision-making and suggest improvements.
- Ability to fill in for the Radiology Director during absences.
