Job Responsibilities

The Critical Care Nurse is tasked with coordinating the nursing care for assigned patients within the unit, ensuring high-quality care tailored to specific age-related needs. The RN utilizes knowledge of growth and development principles, applying the necessary skills to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety, and related criteria.

In accordance with established policies and procedures, the Critical Care Nurse delivers professional nursing care, exercising independent judgment throughout the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN also provides leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing staff and other members of the patient care team to uphold professional nursing standards within the clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Effectively communicating with patients, physicians, and hospital staff to fulfill role responsibilities.
  • Actively participating in departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Responding positively and professionally to requests.
  • Demonstrating teamwork and prioritizing collective goals over individual interests.
  • Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, including problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Maintaining a high standard of professional conduct.
  • Facilitating communication among patients, physicians, guests, and colleagues.
  • Consistently displaying courteous and positive behavior.
  • Utilizing appropriate accountability measures for continuous quality improvement.
  • Reporting departmental issues to the Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, or Director.
  • Safeguarding patient and coworker confidentiality while respecting their dignity and privacy.
  • Coordinating services based on individual patient needs, including case management and other support services.
  • Enhancing care delivery and achieving organizational goals through effective communication.
  • Participating in the reporting process to relay vital patient information.
  • Contributing to discussions aimed at improving patient care quality.

Qualifications Required:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Preferred: One or more years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
