Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registrar to join our team at Purdue University Fort Wayne. The successful candidate will provide leadership for operational, financial, personnel, policy, and technology activities for the Office of the Registrar.

Key Responsibilities:

The Registrar will serve as a key stakeholder in the integrity of the student information system and steward of student records held by the Office of the Registrar. Key responsibilities include guiding the registrar organizational unit with clear vision and measured outcomes, serving as PFW's representative to system-wide and statewide discussions regarding matters related to registrar functions, and serving on compliance, enrollment management, and academic officers' committees.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement system improvements consistent with overall organizational and strategic goals, identify gaps and opportunities for enhanced service to constituents, and propose solutions.
  • Develop academic calendars, review business processes, and develop internal office policies and procedures to continuously improve services provided by the Office of the Registrar.
  • Guide campus in conforming with Purdue system-wide academic regulations and propose campus policy modifications to that end.
  • Provide end-user assistance, deliver registration services, maintain the campus master course list, manage the schedule of classes, and ensure all class offerings are in compliance with established class scheduling patterns.
  • Oversee processing of grades and certifications for enrollment, including certification of NCAA athletic eligibility and procurement and distribution of diplomas.
  • Oversee the determination of residency classification for continuing students, maintain requirements to meet degree and certificate programs, and serve as the budget control officer for the Office of the Registrar.
  • Recruit, select, manage, develop, evaluate, and discipline Registrar personnel, guide staff efforts by providing direction, priorities, and goals, and maintain and update the campus catalog.
  • Partner with Institutional Research to fulfill state and federal student data reporting requirements, safeguard academic records, focusing on data integrity, security, information flow, maintenance, developments, and enhancements in collaboration with IT Security staff.
  • Ensure transmission and integration of Purdue Fort Wayne campus student data with the Purdue West Lafayette student information system and ensure transmission and integration of biodemographic, curricular, registration, and grade data with the Indiana University student information system for IU Fort Wayne students.
  • Serve as data manager for access to student data outside the campus, serve as a petition and appeal officer for issues related to registration, academic records, and graduation, and coordinate with other enrollment management units, faculty, staff, students, and parents in the resolution of disagreements.
  • Serve as FERPA compliance officer and provide professional guidance related to FERPA, retention of records, and security and management of student records, represent Purdue Fort Wayne as appropriate in its relationships with governmental agencies, professional societies, and the Purdue system-wide organization, and serve Faculty Senate and its Committees/Subcommittees.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in information management systems, public administration, business, or a related discipline, with 10 years of substantial experience in registrar functions and management of registrar functions at a comprehensive university. The candidate should have strong technical skills in student information systems and degree audit applications, demonstrable experience in system implementation, upgrades, and process improvement, and skills/knowledge of data management/analysis/reporting/student development and learning. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of state and federal regulatory rules related to managing college enrollments and application of such to a higher education environment, extensive knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and ability to effectively communicate and enlist cooperation of individuals at all levels across the campus. Supervisory experience is required, with the ability to motivate staff through change management initiatives, and knowledge of and experience in budget management. A strong sense of ethics and discretion is also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Banner and experience in a multi-campus system are strongly preferred.
