About the Role

CFMOTO Powersports Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our Accessories Product Development team. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and execution of our PG&A accessory line-up, focusing on delivering product timelines, developing engineering requirements, CAD concepts, and test requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Engineering
    • Lead the development of new product technical documentation, testing, and validation requirements, as well as part requirements.
    • Take Product Requirement Documents and create and develop engineering requirements.
    • Lead the product development process in collaboration with CFMOTO Global design and project engineers.
    • Assist in the design and integration of accessories to vehicle units.
    • Communicate both internally and externally to management, project team members, and cross-functional peers/leadership; provide feedback to internal and external suppliers as needed.
    • Resolve problems in assigned projects using innovative solutions and interfaces with others in the company, reports, and escalates to executive management as needed; provide design and directional feedback throughout projects.
    • Make effective engineering/business decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
    • Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.
    • Maintain and improve other project development tools as necessary to drive the development process.
    • Prepare and present reports periodically on the status of assigned projects.
    • Manage multiple project initiatives simultaneously.
  • CAD
    • Create and manage CAD models and assemblies within NX software.
    • Work with the rapid prototyping process and scan data for use in CAD layout.
    • Coordinate and consult other employees in the department to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
    • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
    • Revises and updates existing models reflecting design changes, in collaboration with other CFMOTO locations to ensure consistent documentation of the products/projects.
  • Testing
    • Take Engineering Requirement Documents and create and develop testing requirements.
    • Test samples and researching a product's effectiveness and impact; fit and test accessories as required.
    • Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality.
  • Project Management
    • Define/refine product scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and managing project budgets.
    • Coordinate people and resources to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed-on time, cost, and quality parameters.
    • Manage the health and performance of new product development projects to ensure on-time launch.
    • Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needed.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
    Requirements
    • Education & Experience Required
      • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
      • 3-7 years of previous experience in a similar role within the Powersports, Automotive, or retail-based industry.
      • Proven track record of managing and developing parts and products.
      • CAD software competency.
      • Project Management experience.
      • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and knowledge of product design, development, and testing process.
      • Experience driving Level 1 and Level 2 document creation.
      • Must be able to collaborate with multiple teams.
      • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and proficient with Word and Outlook.
      • Negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
      • Strong customer focus and service orientation with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, dealers/customers, and suppliers at all levels in a cross-cultural setting.
