About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Engineer to join our team at Target. As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical development of products within our furniture, lighting, or outdoor furniture categories.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, sourcing, and merchants, to bring innovative product concepts to life. Your expertise will ensure that every product meets Target's high standards for quality, safety, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical development of products within your category, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with design, sourcing, and merchant teams to translate product concepts into manufacturable designs, aligning with business goals and brand vision.
  • Develop and maintain detailed product specifications, covering raw materials, construction, dimensions, functionality, and performance criteria.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges in partnership with vendors, ensuring timely and efficient production processes.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and conduct competitive analysis to ensure Target products are market-leading in terms of innovation, quality, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and legal requirements, ensuring that Target products meet or exceed consumer standards.
  • Drive technical innovation by identifying opportunities to improve product quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Product Engineer with a strong understanding of product testing, safety regulations, and consumer goods compliance standards. You should have a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Product Development, or a related field, and 4+ years of hands-on experience in product engineering, ideally within furniture, lighting, or outdoor furniture categories.

You should be proficient in 2D/3D CAD software and have a solid knowledge of manufacturing processes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you will work effectively across teams and external partners to bring products from concept to market.
