Graco is a leading manufacturer of premium equipment for fluid handling and processing. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Electric Motors Division (EMD) and contribute to the development of innovative transverse flux electric motors for various OEM applications.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and developing products used in electric motor and drive systems. This will involve multiple project responsibilities from motor specification to manufacturing implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development: Participate in the development of product specification and conceptual designs, analyze designs through simulation, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis, cost optimization, and risk assessment, guide development process to produce practical designs through DFM principles and manufacturing process development, qualify product designs through test development, data analysis, and experimental design, identify and design to applicable performance and safety standards, create and review detailed design drawings and work instructions.
  • Project Leadership: Lead product development projects as required, track, measure, and organize data corresponding to prototype and pilot builds, provide periodic oral and written reports of project status, manage project to meet schedules, communicate with internal team members, customers, suppliers, and outside agencies to aid in spec development, product design, and qualification efforts, work with other team members to ensure satisfactory completion of all steps in the development process, identify and communicate threats to schedule to appropriate management, conduct design reviews, safety reviews, etc.
  • Product Support: Direct and perform standard product support activities such as analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products, troubleshooting product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites, initiating corrective action activities.
  • Knowledge Development: Learn, participate in the development, and apply knowledge of operational systems, Graco and industry design standards, Graco Quality Management System, emerging trends in our customers' markets.
Requirements
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent as approved by the divisional engineering management group.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent engineering/technical aptitude.
  • Minimum of 1.5 years' experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to independently produce innovative and successful designs.
