About the Office

The Office of Professional Support & Client Protection administers essential programs such as the Client Security Fund (CSF), which assists individuals affected by theft or dishonest conduct by attorneys in California. The office also oversees the Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP) and the Office of Case Management and Supervision, along with the Mandatory Fee Arbitration Program that provides alternative solutions for disputes regarding attorney-client fees.

We are in search of a committed attorney with a proactive mindset to become part of our collaborative team. In the role of CSF Attorney III, you will be instrumental in managing legal responsibilities and delivering technical expertise. The ideal candidate should demonstrate outstanding analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and effective communication, both written and verbal. This position emphasizes the application of legal principles to assess fund applications rather than litigation. If you are dedicated to consumer protection and assisting those affected by attorney misconduct, this role is well-suited for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide thorough legal guidance to the Client Security Fund and the Client Security Fund Commission.
  • Efficiently manage a substantial volume of intricate cases with precision.
  • Evaluate evidence, apply fund regulations, and draft comprehensive written decisions.
  • Present detailed case summaries to the CSF Commission and offer legal counsel on pertinent issues.
  • Engage professionally with stakeholders, address legal matters, and assist in various legal processes.
  • Identify operational challenges, spearhead improvement initiatives, and analyze program data.
  • Uphold the mission of the Fund while delivering exceptional service to all involved parties.

Understanding the Role of an Attorney III

As an Attorney III, you will tackle complex legal challenges, provide recommendations, conduct legal research, and participate in litigation activities. You will also play a vital role in case management, presentations, and policy formulation within the State Bar.
