Job Title: School Nurse

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will provide healthcare services to students, staff, and faculty at Great Hearts Academies. This role requires a Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in student-specific case management plans for acute and chronic health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure a healthy school environment.
  • Provide direct care to students, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
  • Initiate and maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
  • Communicate with parents and serve as a liaison between school personnel, healthcare professionals, and the community.
  • Develop and implement individualized health care plans and evaluate outcomes of skilled and direct nursing care.
  • Collaborate with district personnel to implement health-related Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and services.
  • Provide consultation to campus administration in crisis/emergency situations.
  • Supervise and train LVNs, unlicensed diabetes care assistants, and other school personnel as designated.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Expertise in student-specific case management plans for acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational, communication, mentoring, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must complete Texas Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance and background check.
  • Physical functions: Requires standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 50 pounds approximately.
