Job Summary:

The School Nurse will provide direct care to students, utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, individualized healthcare plans, and established school health protocols. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care to students, including administering medications, conducting health screenings, and developing individualized healthcare plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure the health and well-being of students.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization records, medication administration records, and individualized healthcare plans.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote the health and wellness of students and staff.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Expertise in student-specific case management plans for acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational, communication, mentoring, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
