We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at East Central ISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive program of health services for the campus, providing health services to students, and promoting health education and preventive health practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct care to students using professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and established school health protocols.
- Serve as a health advocate for students and notify parents of accidents or illnesses.
- Coordinate the administration of medications to students at school and maintain accurate health records.
- Develop and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs and make referrals as necessary.
- Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
- Assess student problems and make appropriate referrals, working with students, teachers, parents, and medical professionals as needed.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
- CPR Certification and AED certificates.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and will be required to maintain emotional control under stress. The position requires frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. The School Nurse may be required to lift and carry students with physical disabilities.
