Job Title: Nutrition Associate Part-Time

Roanoke County Public Schools is seeking a Nutrition Associate Part-Time to join our team. This is a part-time position, 188 days (August-May), 5 hours/day, eligible for benefits.

Job Summary:

The Nutrition Associate will provide services for various aspects of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) operation. Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitation, cooking, and serving food to meet financial and nutritional needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow production schedules and work assignments
  • Perform assigned tasks on time and accurately
  • Utilize work time efficiently, assist staff with production needs
  • Implement planned menus using efficient production techniques
  • Assist in daily food preparation, serving, and cleaning of facilities
  • Practice good customer service standards
  • Participate in merchandizing and marketing techniques to enhance student acceptability
  • Follow sanitation and safety procedures
  • Assist in receiving and stocking food to meet department standards
  • Submit compiled semimonthly reports
  • Operate, clean, and sanitize commercial food production equipment
  • Perform duties other than specific work assignments to promote efficiency
  • Monitor equipment and refer to Nutrition Manager for maintenance
  • Assist in communicating program information to encourage support from students, staff, parents, administrators, and community
  • Attend job-related and support training classes and meetings
Requirements:
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent high school certificate
  • Food service experience beneficial, but not required
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must have the ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to perform all aspects related to food preparation and equipment use.

Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels; physical agility to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to climb stairs, to walk, to reach overhead, and to use repetitive motion in the same position for extended periods of time.

Must have the ability to wear protective attire in the food service operation. Ability to work in kitchens that exhibit moist and hot environments.
