We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team at Perkins School for the Blind. As a key member of our educational services team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities- Student Assessments and Instruction: Conduct comprehensive assessments of students with visual impairments to identify their strengths, needs, and goals. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to ensure students receive the support they need to achieve academic success.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Provide consultation and training to teachers, staff, and parents on best practices for teaching students with visual impairments. Collaborate with other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
- Lesson Planning and Materials Development: Design and develop lessons and materials that meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments. Utilize a range of instructional strategies and technologies to engage students and promote learning.
- Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
- Education and Certification: Master's degree in Special Education and certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) required.
- Experience and Skills: Proven experience working with students with visual impairments, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
