Job Overview

POSITION TITLE: Business Analyst

DIVISION: Enterprise Solutions – Utility Sector

SUPERVISOR: Enterprise Services Manager – Utilities

WORK LOCATION: Remote (US Based)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Up to 25%

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst plays a crucial role in evaluating business needs and converting them into technical documentation. This includes defining, executing, and recording system tests, as well as creating, maintaining, and delivering system documentation for both business and technical audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requirements Gathering

  • Engage with business stakeholders (sales, professional services, support, etc.) to define, document, and validate functional requirements.
  • Develop user stories by analyzing and synthesizing information from business stakeholders.
  • Convert business needs into technical specifications for software developers.

Testing and Quality Control

  • Support the complete testing lifecycle by drafting detailed scripts, conditions, and test documentation within an agile framework (e.g., Scrum).
  • Conduct thorough testing to ensure software development aligns with expected results.
  • Document and communicate ongoing testing results (successes, defects) with the development team and assist in prioritizing resolutions.
  • Collaborate with business units on user acceptance testing and related support.

Documentation Management

  • Develop new quality system documentation and training resources for business and technical stakeholders, including how-to guides, operating procedures, system overviews, and API reference materials for i3 Verticals products and hosted systems.
  • Maintain a document control system to track all documentation modifications and updates in line with standards.
  • Ensure uniformity across all documentation outputs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to team meetings and requirements reviews by providing insights, suggestions, and feedback as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Product Development Team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or 1-4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, business analysis (for technology development), and system testing.
  • Exceptional documentation skills, including the creation of training materials.
  • Demonstrated analytical, design, and conceptual skills in software development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Proactive ownership of tasks and deliverables.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in a virtual, remote work environment.
  • Familiarity with various documentation tools for writing, formatting, managing, and publishing high-quality content.
  • Prior experience with agile project management methodologies such as Scrum.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Adobe, JIRA, Confluence.
  • Experience with Customer Information Systems, particularly in the utility sector.
