Position Overview:
The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) acts as the initial point of contact for patients and their guarantors within various healthcare settings, including hospitals and medical offices. The PFSR interacts with patients or their representatives to collect essential information and address inquiries, ensuring that all necessary demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility details are accurately gathered and confirmed. This role also involves ensuring that all required notices and consent forms are duly signed.Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates pre-certification and authorization processes.
- Confirms insurance benefits by obtaining insurance cards and verifying active coverage.
- Determines the appropriate order for insurance filing when multiple coverages are applicable.
- Explains policies and secures necessary signatures on regulatory and financial consent forms.
- May assist with patient discharge tasks, including reviewing after-visit summaries and scheduling future appointments.
- Conducts interviews with patients and guarantors to gather all required information, including identification verification.
- May confirm physician orders and prescriptions for accuracy.
- Schedules walk-in appointments for available services.
- Collects patient payments according to established guidelines and provides cost estimates as requested.
- Prepares and reconciles daily deposits of payment collections.
- Delivers exceptional customer service, addressing all inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
- Guides patients to the appropriate locations for their required services.
