Position Overview
Varda Space Industries is in search of a talented CNC Manufacturing Specialist to join our Manufacturing Group. This position is vital as we build our internal manufacturing capabilities to ensure quick responses to project demands. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic environment, showcasing outstanding technical abilities and a passion for hands-on production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute CNC programming utilizing HSMworks/SolidCAM, concentrating on 3 and 5 axis machinery for small batch and diverse geometries.
- Set up and operate production machinery during the initial phases of program development and troubleshooting, ensuring readiness for manufacturing.
- Employ SolidWorks and NX for fixture design, part modeling, and the creation of machining programs.
- Oversee the complete manufacturing workflow from material procurement to quality assurance.
- Manage the production schedule using Jira, ensuring timely execution and smooth collaboration with other teams.
- Continuously seek and implement process enhancements to boost efficiency and output quality.
- Act as the in-house expert, engaging in lean initiatives to optimize existing products, minimize setup times, and enhance productivity and quality.
- Maintain a steadfast commitment to achieving critical production goals without sacrificing quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1-5 years of experience in CNC machining, ideally within aerospace or precision engineering sectors.
- Proficient in SolidWorks or NX.
- Frequent user of CAM software, with a preference for HSMworks/SolidCAM; familiarity with MasterCAM and ESPRIT is also acceptable.
- Strong understanding of work-holding, tooling systems, and CNC machine setup.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GD&T and various manufacturing methodologies.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a fundamental approach to technical challenges.
- Demonstrates unwavering dedication to quality and production objectives.
- Thrives in a role that necessitates full ownership of the manufacturing process, including all intermediate steps.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations under ITAR.
