Role Summary:
We are in search of a skilled machinist with extensive experience in operating machine tools. The ideal candidate will be adept at setting up, operating, and maintaining various machine tools to manufacture precision components and instruments. This position demands a high degree of technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to handle sophisticated machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate machine tools including lathes, milling machines, and automated composite manufacturing equipment to create high-precision parts.
- Download and manage CNC programs on machine controllers.
- Establish machine coordinates and index points according to CNC documentation, adjusting offsets, tool heights, and laser settings as necessary.
- Monitor machinery during operation for any irregularities, observing gauges and digital displays for alerts, and visually inspecting for operational clearance.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine necessary machine operations and sequences.
- Conduct inspections of finished components to ensure compliance with specifications using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery to guarantee optimal functionality and longevity.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot technical issues and enhance operational processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all safety regulations and protocols.
- Adjust machine settings as required to optimize performance.
- Feed raw materials into semi-automated machines.
- Conduct periodic tests on machine operations.
- Resolve any operational issues that arise during shifts.
- Inspect output to identify any machine-related errors or defects.
- Keep detailed logs of activities and machine performance.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a production assembly line.
- 2+ years of experience in production operations with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
- 3+ years of experience in machining, robotics, or numerical control programming.
- 1+ years of experience working with composite materials.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with CNC machinery is advantageous.
- Skilled in troubleshooting systems and conducting root cause analysis.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques and materials, including metals and composites.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent manual dexterity and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Familiarity with safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to lift and move heavy objects, typically up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
