Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team at Utilities Service Co Inc. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel with maintenance-related supplies to dispersed equipment and perform on-site maintenance activities on all machinery and vehicles.
  • Monitor inventory, inspect vehicles, and perform preventative maintenance to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Communicate with our organization to coordinate and schedule PM activities in an efficient manner.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate and inspect machines or vehicles to diagnose defects or functionality problems and alert clients on issues that will prohibit their vehicles from passing inspection.
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records in written or electronic form.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
  • Operate individually and within a team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance scheduling.
  • Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of journeyman level mechanic experience required.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping, squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists, use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in the same position, perform duties in all climates, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment.
  • Valid drivers' license required.
  • Must pass a background and/or Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
