About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Operations Supervisor to join our team at American Air Filter Company, Inc. as a key member of our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities of our organization, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and that our production operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Maintenance Technicians: Monitor and direct the work of maintenance technicians to ensure that all maintenance activities are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate Preventive Maintenance: Work with production planning staff to coordinate preventive maintenance activities and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis: Assist with root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement fixes to prevent future issues.
  • Prioritize Maintenance Activities: Prioritize maintenance activities based on urgency and availability of resources, and assign technicians to open work orders.
  • Manage Maintenance Operations: Direct, plan, and coordinate maintenance operations over all shifts to minimize equipment downtime and maximize production.
  • Develop Maintenance Programs: Develop and maintain an effective machinery maintenance program, including predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure Quality of Repairs: Ensure the quality of repairs, scheduling of repair work, diagnosis of equipment problems, and adequate supplies of materials and/or parts required to complete repairs.
  • Work with Production Control: Work closely with production control and manufacturing departments to schedule maintenance and/or repairs at appropriate times.
  • Plan and Organize Work: Plan, organize, and assign work to maintenance employees to apply skill and experience to the best advantage, ensuring efficient use of labor hours, materials, and equipment consistent with production and profit requirements.
  • Maintain Observation: Maintain close observation over maintenance operations, providing guidance concerning proper maintenance methods.
  • Select and Train Employees: Select and train maintenance employees to ensure a sufficient workforce to meet short and long-term objectives.
  • Evaluate Work Performance: Evaluate work performance and counsel and coach employees to maintain efficient work performance.
  • Oversee Maintenance Data Systems: Oversee the development and operation of the maintenance data systems, addressing delay reporting, inventory control, equipment history, and maintenance cost tracking.
  • Develop Operating Plans: Develop short and long-term plans relating to operating costs, labor requirements, and equipment replacement, overhaul, and shutdowns.
  • Assist with Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing annual budget for all maintenance operations and administer and control budget during the business year.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 18 to 24 months of process and project engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Has advanced technical skills in hydraulic, compressed air, mechanical, and electrical fields (e.g. PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, etc.) and is able to lead resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Systems: Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, etc.
  • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Able to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • Communication and Leadership Skills: Strong communication skills, verbal and written, and strong leadership skills (conflict resolution, facilitation, change management skills, decision making, empowerment, and delegation).
  • Travel and Knowledge of Policies: Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary, and knowledge of the field's policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Leadership and Personnel Decisions: Leads and directs the work of other employees and typically has some authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions.
