Our ultimate goal is to enhance community functioning, leading to reduced crime rates, lower high-risk behaviors, and fewer fatalities associated with substance abuse.

Position Title: Substance Abuse Counselor

Reports to: Clinical Supervisor

Role Purpose: The counselor will deliver a minimum of 120 hours per month of direct counseling and case management services to patients. This will encompass individual, group, family, and educational support, including assessment, personalized treatment plans, counseling, and aftercare services. The counselor is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and review of patient records to ensure high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain current patient progress notes and ongoing reports.
  • Complete necessary documentation for patients, courts, probation/parole departments, and referral sources.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient records, regularly assessing patient progress.
  • Assist patients in achieving their treatment objectives.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and organizations.
  • Familiarize oneself with all operational aspects of the clinic.
  • Engage in training and educational opportunities relevant to the counselor's role.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the clinical supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Certification and/or registration with an accrediting body in California.
  • Experience in treating chemical dependency patients in an outpatient setting.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in treating chemically dependent individuals.
  • Able to work effectively with high-risk patients.
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, harm reduction models, and medically assisted treatment (MAT) related to opiate addiction.
  • Experience in an outpatient treatment environment.
  • Possess strong managerial skills.
  • Able to manage a caseload of 50 patients per counselor.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations and accreditation standards for outpatient treatment.
  • Maintain ethical and professional conduct at all times.
  • Culturally sensitive to the challenges faced by patients.
  • Demonstrated history of no substance misuse for five (5) years prior to employment.
  • Must not exhibit any signs of substance misuse or unlawful behavior while employed.

Compensation:

Executive Excellence offers competitive hourly compensation ranging from $25 to $30 per hour.
