Role Overview:
As a Substance Abuse Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions, as well as providing rehabilitative services to individuals struggling with substance use within a supportive residential environment.
Compensation and Schedule:
The hourly wage for this position is $20.00, with a work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and actively engage in therapeutic group and individual sessions under supervision.
- Serve as an advocate for students and participate in collaborative faculty discussions.
- Communicate with students' families, legal representatives, and pertinent agencies.
- Monitor and assess student progress, responding to emergencies as necessary.
- Conduct thorough assessments and maintain precise student documentation.
- Work collaboratively with students to establish treatment goals and plans.
- Participate in ongoing training, prepare necessary reports, and may be required to testify in court.
- Ensure the well-being and confidentiality of students while coordinating program activities.
- Provide mentorship to students, oversee interns, and engage in community-building initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health discipline with a minimum of one year of experience in a substance abuse or behavioral health setting.
- Alternatively, a High School diploma with at least two years of relevant education and experience.
- Familiarity with therapeutic community practices, group dynamics, and counseling methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to maintain professionalism, and a solid understanding of substance abuse issues.
