Unit Information:
The Surgical department at Mount Carmel St. Ann's features 12 operating rooms. As a Registered Nurse, you will encounter a variety of cases including ENT, general surgery, gynecology, maxillofacial, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, podiatry, robotic surgery, urology, and vascular procedures. Our team comprises skilled surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurse leaders who exemplify outstanding teamwork and collaboration. The department fosters a familial atmosphere and offers a supportive environment with minimal on-call obligations.

Job Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN), adhering to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in a manner that respects each individual's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is responsible for delivering patient care using the Nursing Process in accordance with the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.
Key Duties:
- Evaluate and assess patient care for a designated group of patients, employing evidence-based practices; assist providers with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments; perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision, including preparation for procedures.
- Administer medications under the guidance of the provider, following organizational standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by the provider.
- Thoroughly educate and inform patients and their families about procedures (diagnosis, disease process, etc.).
- Accurately document relevant assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients in compliance with documentation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation and supervision of other team members
- Basic computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical records preferred
