Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Pacific Manufacturing Ohio is a leading automotive parts supplier based in Fairfield, Ohio. As a subsidiary of Pacific Industrial in Ogaki City, Japan, we specialize in metal stamping components, plastic extrusion, and TMPS for auto manufacturers in the United States and Canada.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing biweekly payroll, performing necessary clerical and payroll functions, and ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process biweekly payroll, including setting up new hires, temporary employees, and maintaining schedules for all hourly employees.
  • Audit department time sheets daily and email Group Leaders/Managers with time issues.
  • Process timesheet corrections in the time clock database and review daily attendance sheets for potential pay-related issues.
  • Verify Leave Requests are being processed by Group Leaders/Managers in a timely manner and ensure approved vacation days are applied to the correct date and pay period.
  • Enter payroll deductions for uniforms, garnishments, child supports, and 401K into the payroll system.
  • Transfer time clock data to the payroll system biweekly for processing and run/save final reports.
  • Transmit payroll to Paycor and assist all departments with payroll-related inquiries.
  • Respond to requests from external agencies on matters relating to payroll and calculate manual checks when necessary.
  • Maintain payroll files and box files for storage and backup for payroll orientation when the supervisor is unavailable.
  • Verify all payroll documents have required signatures prior to submission for processing.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous payroll experience.
  • Data entry and good record-keeping techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft business applications (Word and Excel).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information received.
Working Conditions:

Employee must have the ability to:

  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
  • Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone.
  • Enter data into a computer terminal/typewriter, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone.
  • Lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs.

Work indoors, in a standard office environment. Safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hat are required at all times on the plant floor. Exposed to heat at times during summer months on the plant floor. Upper noise levels requiring hearing protection on the plant floor.
