POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is accountable for managing patient invoices that exhibit credit balances, including recoups, adjustments, and unidentified payments for Anesthesia groups, while ensuring precision and productivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and process overpayments from guarantors, government payers, and commercial insurance for all groups to ascertain refund eligibility.
  • Handle correspondence related to credit balances and manage payment transfers and canceled check research.
  • Process invoices within the designated worklist, aiming to maintain an aging view of 30 days or less. This includes reviewing prior actions to determine the next steps, documenting current actions, and summarizing outcomes.
  • Compile necessary documentation to substantiate refunds.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers and guarantors regarding credit balances, offsets, and unidentified payments as needed.
  • Identify and report any error trends that may impact account processing.
  • Investigate unidentified invoices and generate reports to ensure proper payment application.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • On-site presence required during the training period.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in medical billing is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in medical billing, with excellent communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines and production targets, along with proficient computer skills.
