Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Chemist to engage in advanced research and testing within our laboratory environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a variety of experiments focused on wear and friction tribology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute tribology experiments by utilizing a range of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Analyze experimental results, identify anomalies, and propose actionable solutions.
  • Characterize material properties and structures through diverse microscopic and spectroscopic methods, such as Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
  • Document and report all experimental findings meticulously, and present results during team discussions.
  • Prepare and press samples for testing, coordinating the machining of test specimens and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate laboratory instruments, while authoring manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices, supporting process safety management by maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Manage the procurement of laboratory supplies and maintain an inventory of chemicals and experimental samples.
  • Coordinate external laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Preferred experience or knowledge in polymer science.
  • Willingness to learn various testing methodologies and instrumentation.
  • Prior exposure to mechanical testing equipment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW and CAD software is a plus.
  • Experience with surface profilometry and micro-analysis techniques is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritize and manage responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
