Position Summary

We are in search of a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who possesses a deep appreciation for the outdoors and is eager to cater to our customers' needs. As the Retail Operations Manager at NOC's Retail Outpost, you will guide our retail team, gain comprehensive knowledge of our diverse range of products, apparel, and adventure services, and offer insightful information about the local area.

This role reports directly to the Associate and Senior Directors of Retail and is a full-time, year-round position. Ideal candidates should be flexible to work during weekends, evenings, and holidays, with hours varying based on operational demands. Retail Managers enjoy exclusive access to all NOC outdoor activities, gear, apparel, and footwear at discounted rates, along with complimentary or reduced admission to several local attractions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee store revenue, budgeting, and inventory management.
  • Assist in formulating budgets for all store operations, including merchandising, payroll, supplies, and revenue, ensuring adherence to these budgets.
  • Manage team members to uphold all NOC policies and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor inventory control measures.
  • Collaborate with Buyers and the Retail Team to drive success.

Essential Duties

  • Adhere to NOC's policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure efficient product flow to the retail floor.
  • Provide valuable input to the Buying Team.
  • Supervise a team of 4 to 8 employees, including sales associates and an assistant manager.
  • Complete staff schedules and payroll in accordance with NOC's Retail Team policies.
  • Handle personnel matters within the store.
  • Responsible for recruiting and training new staff members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, manage salary adjustments, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Engage actively on the sales floor for 75% of scheduled shifts.
  • Assist with sales, stocking, and merchandising as a frontline employee.
  • Promote and ensure quality guest experiences through training and leading by example.
  • Foster an environment where guest experience is the top priority in NOC retail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 3 years of management experience in outdoor retail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical abilities regarding data, industry trends, and personnel matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with vendors, guests, and staff.
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Proficient in operating computer systems efficiently.
