Position Overview:
Role Summary:
The Senior Plant Controller will be a pivotal financial leader within the manufacturing facility, tasked with managing all financial operations, encompassing cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting, and labor costing.
This position demands a robust analytical approach, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to collaborate effectively with both plant operations and corporate finance teams.
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in a manufacturing context and be open to occasional travel to various plant sites or corporate offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
Oversee the cost management process, including standard cost establishment, variance analysis, and cost control strategies.
Develop, implement, and monitor cost control protocols to ensure the plant remains within budgetary constraints.
Evaluate production costs and collaborate with operations to pinpoint and execute cost-saving initiatives.
Inventory Management:
Supervise all inventory management tasks, including month-end inventory reconciliations, adjustments, and reporting.
Guarantee precise and timely valuation of inventory, covering raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Conduct regular physical inventory audits and cycle counts to uphold accuracy.
Financial Reporting:
Compile and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Provide insights and recommendations derived from financial data to facilitate decision-making at both plant and corporate levels.
Labor Cost Management:
Develop and maintain labor cost models, encompassing both direct and indirect labor.
Analyze labor expenditures and collaborate with HR and operations to enhance workforce efficiency.
Monitor and report on essential labor metrics, including overtime, productivity, and labor variances.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process for the plant, including the preparation of detailed forecasts and financial plans.
Track actual performance against budget and forecasts, providing variance analysis and corrective actions as necessary.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure robust internal controls are established and adhered to in all financial processes.
Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of any findings or recommendations.
Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance at the plant level.
Business Collaboration:
Act as a financial business partner to the Plant Manager and other operational leaders, offering financial guidance and support.
Engage in cross-functional teams focused on process enhancements, cost reductions, and operational efficiencies.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel to other plant locations or corporate offices may be necessary to collaborate with finance and operations teams, conduct audits, or support projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications are preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar capacity within a manufacturing setting.
Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting, and labor costing.
Skills:
Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel capabilities.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication abilities, with the capacity to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
Other:
Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
