POSITION SUMMARY
The Lighting Operations Specialist is a part-time role within the Community Resources Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate in the planning, organization, and oversight of technical functions at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre and 2nd Story Theatre.
- Manage and utilize city-owned lighting equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in various lighting instruments, including LED and moving lights.
- Familiarity with light plots and fixture placement documentation.
- Capable of maintaining and repairing lighting devices.
- Skilled in soldering and electrical rewiring while adhering to safety standards.
- Competent in using personal computers and relevant software applications.
Abilities:
- Engage with clients to assess their lighting needs for events and performances.
- Ensure safe routing and discreet placement of electrical cables.
- Operate light consoles, interpret light plots, and execute lighting cues effectively.
- Monitor lighting equipment conditions and report any repair needs to the Lead Technician.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of lighting gear.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Technician to address technical inquiries from renters.
- Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with representatives from various departments and the public.
Experience:
A combination of education, training, and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills, including at least one year of relevant experience in lighting operations within a performing arts environment, complemented by technical coursework.
Additional Requirements:
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma, and maintain a valid driver's license.
