Job Summary

The City of Hermosa Beach Isai is seeking a highly skilled Theatre Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Community Resources Department, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the technical operations of our theatres.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and execution of technical operations for events and performances.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of city-owned theatre equipment.
  • Perform related work as required or assigned.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of lighting fixtures, including LED, moving, and non-moving fixtures.
  • Understanding of light plots and fixture placement.
  • Ability to maintain and repair various light instruments.
  • Experience with soldering and electrical rewiring.
  • Proficiency in personal computers and computer software programs used by the City.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Meet with customers to determine lighting-related technical and artistic requirements.
  • Safe routing and placement of electrical cables.
  • Patch light consoles, address lighting fixtures, and interpret light plots.
  • Monitor the condition of lighting equipment and notify the Lead Theatre Technician of need for repair or replacement.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections of lighting equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Theatre Technician to respond to renters on technical operations.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Exercise tact and deal effectively with representatives from other City departments and the public.
Experience and Education
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience that would have provided the required knowledge and skills.
  • A minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in the light operations of a performing arts facility.
  • Supplemented by technical courses in light operations.
Additional Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a High School Graduate.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
