Job Title: Assistant General Counsel

The Assistant General Counsel will provide legal counsel and support on a variety of corporate, transactional, governance, and compliance matters for New York University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and support on corporate, transactional, governance, and compliance matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and manage corporate transactions
  • Advise on regulatory, compliance, and risk management issues affecting the University
  • Address legal matters relating to the University's global sites and international initiatives
  • Support governance for the University and its affiliates
  • Perform legal research and provide advice and counseling on various topics
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 5+ years of related experience at a major law firm or in-house at a multinational organization
  • Strong academic and professional credentials
  • Excellent drafting and negotiating skills
  • Good business judgment and creative problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in-house at a multinational organization
  • Knowledge of legal issues relevant to universities and/or large non-profit organizations
Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to USD $180,000.00.

New York University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
