Financial Operations Manager

Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing financial forecasting and reporting for a multi-site Region. The successful candidate will provide insight and analysis of financial operating results, identifying trends and making recommendations for various profitability drivers, with a focus on operations expense management and inventory shrinkage.

Responsibilities
  • Determine key drivers of operations expense variances versus plan and last year's results.
  • Identify underperforming customers and make recommendations to drive profitability.
  • Provide specific analysis of key drivers of operational expenses variances to plan and last year.
  • Participate in recruiting, training, and management of Inventory Control Manager and finance associate and cashier.
  • Work with Inventory team to identify opportunities to reduce operational and non-operational shrink.
  • Quantify financial impact of key operational cost control initiatives.
  • Lead shrink committee by site and for the Region in conjunction with Region Vice President Finance.
  • Assist Region Vice President Finance and Market Vice President Finance with monthly forecast performance.
  • Ensure overall trends and impacts of key initiatives are reflected accurately in the forecast.
  • Work with each department to ensure they understand the overall forecast and how the impact of key initiatives they are responsible for is reflected in the forecast.
  • Assist Region Vice President Finance with preparation of Annual Profit Plan (AOP) on operational expenses and initiatives.
  • Champion and be local expert in Sysco's analytical toolbox.
  • Prepare all capital investment proposals for the Region.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • At least 3 years of financial analyst and/or accounting experience required.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
Professional Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Analyze data and draw logical conclusions and recommendations from the data.
  • Ability to lead and direct clerical positions.
  • Proficient computer skills with emphasis on Word and Excel.
