Position Overview
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is actively seeking qualified individuals for the role of Charge Nurse at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, situated in Decatur, GA.

Salary: $79,666.00

Key Responsibilities
As a Charge Nurse, you will:
1. Plan, implement, and assess nursing care for your designated unit or shift.
2. Ensure that nursing staff evaluate client health issues, create and execute care plans, and maintain comprehensive medical records.
3. Oversee the quality of nursing services provided to clients who are ill, recovering, or have disabilities.
4. Offer guidance to clients regarding health maintenance and disease prevention, as well as provide case management.
5. Supervise and organize the work of assigned nursing personnel.

Essential Duties
- Administer prescribed medications and initiate intravenous fluids, documenting all actions in client charts.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care strategies.
- Maintain precise and detailed client records and reports.
- Adjust treatment plans based on client responses and conditions.
- Monitor all aspects of client care, including dietary and physical activity.
- Record and report any changes in clients' health status.
- Observe nursing staff and visit clients to ensure appropriate care is delivered.
- Prepare clients for examinations and treatments, assisting as necessary.
- Ensure rooms and medical supplies are properly prepared and stocked.
- Educate clients and their families on health-related topics.
- Provide first aid, immunizations, and support during recovery and rehabilitation.

Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution or an Associate's degree in nursing along with a current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
- A minimum of one year of professional nursing experience.

Technical Skills
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Proficiency in assessing, planning, and delivering fundamental nursing care.
- Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and pharmacology.
- Understanding of immunization regulations.
- Capability to perform CPR and use AED devices.
- Leadership skills, including team management and training abilities.
- Strategic planning for unit needs.
