Junior Specialist in Chromatin Research

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Specialist to join our team in the Al-Sady Lab at the University of California, San Francisco. The successful candidate will contribute to our research on understanding the dynamics of repressive chromatin domains.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct research on chromatin-related projects, including cloning, bacterial expression, protein purification, and enzymological assays.
- Develop and maintain chromatin-related tools for the lab.
- Assist with managing day-to-day lab operations and perform general lab duties.
- Collaborate with lab members to develop new research ideas and projects.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Must have (or be in process of obtaining) a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or four years of research experience.
- Prior experience with protein purification equipment, DNA construct design, and recombinant protein expression.
- Prior experience with biophysical approaches, such as protein-protein interaction methods.
- General familiarity with concepts in protein biochemistry.
- A competitive salary range of $49,000-$52,200.
- Opportunities for independent research, mentorship of other trainees, and scientific writing.
- A 1-year commitment with the possibility of extension.
