Position Overview

The Department of the Navy is seeking a qualified individual to fulfill the role of a Systems Assurance and Security Engineer. In this capacity, you will act as a leading authority and consultant in various technical fields associated with the engineering and integration of critical defense systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an expert in the integration of the Trident Strategic Weapon System and Nuclear Weapon System Security.
  • Develop, assess, and advocate for innovative theories and methodologies in resilient Hardware and Software Engineering.
  • Provide guidance on best practices in System Engineering and System Security Engineering, particularly concerning Supply Chain Risk Management and Cybersecurity.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies related to system acquisitions and lifecycle management.
  • Conduct vendor assessments and ensure compliance with security protocols in packaging and transportation.
  • Collaborate with intelligence agencies to address vulnerabilities and conduct threat assessments.
Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet specific employment conditions, including suitability for federal employment and participation in the direct deposit pay program. A security clearance will be required prior to commencing duties.

Experience Requirements

To qualify, candidates should demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to NH-03 (GS-13) in the federal service or comparable experience in the private sector. This experience should include:

  • Working across multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, computer, etc.) to manage technical requirements.
  • Leading projects that involve security engineering for weapon systems.
Educational Background

Applicants must possess a professional engineering degree from an accredited institution or meet other specified educational criteria, including relevant coursework in engineering sciences.

Additional Information

This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project and may require working uncommon hours, including nights and weekends. Various incentives may be available for eligible candidates.
