Position Overview

The Department of the Navy is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Systems Assurance and Security Engineer. In this role, you will be recognized as a leading expert and advisor in technical areas associated with the engineering and integration of the Trident Strategic Weapon System and Nuclear Weapon System Security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate, assess, and advocate for innovative theories, concepts, and methodologies in resilient Hardware and Software Engineering.
  • Provide guidance and implement best practices in System Engineering and System Security Engineering, particularly in relation to Supply Chain Risk Management and Cybersecurity.
  • Apply risk mitigation strategies and countermeasures throughout the lifecycle of systems, including acquisition and performance.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations, software forensics, and enforce secure practices in Packaging, Handling, Shipping, and Transportation.
  • Collaborate with intelligence community entities on vulnerabilities and threat assessments.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must be U.S. citizens and meet specific employment conditions, including obtaining a security clearance. Applicants should possess a professional engineering degree or equivalent experience in relevant engineering disciplines.

Specialized Experience

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13) level, showcasing expertise in managing technical requirements and leading security engineering projects across multiple engineering disciplines.

Education Requirements

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree from an accredited institution is required. Additional qualifications may include registration as an Engineer Intern or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.

Additional Information

This position may involve travel and is subject to the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project guidelines. Selected candidates may be eligible for various incentives and must adhere to pre-employment requirements.
